Re: Again the same problem reading an adrress in [mutantf], but a little different way
Oh, I see. So, there isn't any way to reference the address just to "watch" the value? I don't know if there's a syntax to reference the ioprot address apart from "maincpu.pb" (something like "ioprot.pb"). Just throwing ideas. I've a self compiled mame build of 0.174. M...

Again the same problem reading an adrress in [mutantf], but a little different way
Hi, in the previous engine version I've found that at 0x1a00f7 there's the value of the credits inserted in the game, but for some reason when I inspect the maincpu in the debugger (the first option in the memory viewer dropdown list) The address changes values every so often, from 0xFF to the credi...

Can't read an address with cheat engine in mk
Hi, in the previous cheat engine I found that in address 28021d (or somewhat close) there was the credits inserted in the machine. Probably they are stored in nvram since the machine starts with the previous credits not spent. The thing is that I cannot write a cheat to read that address with either...

Re: cheat.dat documentation missing
Thanks a lot, I've tested it and it works, however, I was trying to skip all those screens with garbled graphics and start right on the grid pattern or even better, the title screen to make a fast boot cheat since the rom takes somewhat long to boot up. I see you added a ret and a jr * . I'll see if...

cheat.dat documentation missing
Hi, I'm trying to convert some cheats I made some time ago from the cheat.dat format (32 bit words) to the xml format. The problem is that the documentation that was supposed to be here doesn't exist anymore. I need to know what does the last byte of the first word do. IIRC the third from last bit w...

Pre-Enable option - How can be done in current XML format?
Hi peeps, Anyone knows how to set a cheat with the pre-enable mode in the new XML format? This was in the previous format (cheat.dat). The beheviour of this is that when launching mame with a game loaded, the cheat is enabled immediately upon startup. It should apply before any rom code is executed....

[simpsons2p] stage select
Hi, I've been messing with stage select cheats again, this time with The Simpsons (2 Players World, set 1), and I've found some addresses to change the level loaded, but some events dont trigger and the scroll data/physical layer is messed; In $4867 is stored the current stage number (from 0x00 to 0...

[mslug5] Metal Slug 5 - Go right to the last boss scene
Hi, I know there's a mission selection cheat for Metal Slug 5 that writes to the $10D680 address (the last stage value is 0x04). I've also found an address which shows the current scene number, which is $100BAD. The last scene number is 0x06. I've tried overwriting both values but the player just st...

[dino] Go to the last stage right to the Fessenden Battle
Hi, I've been trying to find this cheat for Cadillacs and dinosaurs (World) so hard but I haven't got any luck. I know the last stage address is at $FF84D9 and the value 0x07 represents the last stage. I also know that the address $FF8786 stores the current scene and the last scene value is 0x02. I'...

[terracre+] Faster Ship
I made this ROM codes but I coudn't parametrize the speed so the user chooses how fast the ship goes. I've put two speeds the user can choose. The cheats are made so the previous value is restored and to replace the proper instructions with a "write if match" operation (I've no expertise w...

Sorry again. I didn't realize this game has 3 CPU's . I was searching only on CPU 0 as I was used to do so . The scores are saved in $40106 for PL1 and $40116 por PL2, both as a 4 byte BCD integer in CPU 1 . Well. I hope my mistake is useful for anyone who begins in the cheating world. Cya! ;)

Score address of hpuncher
Hi. I've been trying to find the current score address for PL1 for Hard puncher (hpuncher), but to no avail. I've search the whole address space by using the "greater" option every time if search a value again, searching the score in BCD format (decimal) and searching as a 8,16,24 and 32 b...

Sorry. I found the answer :P
I read a post which says to push enter in the CPU number in the cheat search to select the areas to be searched. Sorry, but that wasn't very obvious. I hope it helps other users so they don't have to stick with old mame versions to look for cheats
Thanks anyway!

Select memory areas is missing in 0.123 (maybe earlier too)
Hi. I've been looking for that option which lets you select which memory areas (or search speed) to search in the cheat menu. So far I'm not able to find it. The latest version I know has that option is 0.106, later versions seem to have that option missing. I wouldn't like to change to prior versio...

?How can i write to certain address if a condition is met?
Hi. I was wondering if it's possible to write in one-shot mode to a given address only if another address has a certain value. For example, write to address 0xffb374 and ffb384 the value 00000000 in 32 bits only if address 0xffb324 in 8 bits has the value 14. As it's one-shot, the cheat should be di...

Anyone knows this game?
Hi, I was looking for the name of a game which I've been looking for so long. It's space themed like galaga, it's vertical scrolling shooter, and the only thing I remember well is that there's a boss which is a giant sunflower I think this game must be prior to 1990 (perhaps between 1985 and 1988) b...

Twin Cobra speedup cheat request :-?
Hi, do anybody have by any chance speedup cheats for Twin Cobra? It doesn't matter if it's for the US or the World version (except for the Japanese version which is Kyukyoku tiger). If it's for both players, better yet. I asked this because I noticed that the choppers are a little slow and it's hard...
