Here's how I had arrived at the conclusion: I had started a new game in SS4 (my tradition is just to pick Haohmaru vs Haohmaru - it shouldn't matter who is selected). Make sure Medium or Upper Grade is selected (you can't do the Ikari Bakuhatsu in Beginner's Grade). It's also wise to enable the chea...

The Ikari Bakuhatsu is performed with ABC, and is a universal attack.

The address for the timer (or what I think is the timer anyways) changes every time you use it (the cheat I posted last night makes finding it much easier), but it always seems to end in C3.

[sfa3] Survival Mode - Select Opponents

In Survival Mode, you face through every character on one life bar. These ROM cheats (there are lots of lines) allow you to select your opponents. The addresses are part of the sz3u.03c ROM, so this means they could be different for clones. If you use the debugger to find the value 01031A0F (corresp...

[samsho4] Rage Gauge...?

If you use the Ikari Bakuhatsu, you will use the use of the Rage Gauge for the rest of the match when the Ikari Bakuhatsu is finished. This is how you can get it back (or deny a player the use of it) :samsho4:62000000:000000:00000000:00000000:Select Rage Gauge Availability PL1 :samsho4:00010000:1085...

[samsho4] Writing too fast for Cheat Engine

It seems like the game is overriding the cheat engine in this case. So far, I have gotten this: :samsho4:00000000:1057C3:00000040:000000FF:Ikari Bakuhatsu - Infinite Time PL1 (It's 1058C3 for P2) However, when trying to activate it, the game is writing values faster than the cheat engine can overrid...

[kof98] Kyo's Orochi Nagi

Kyo's Ura 108 Shiki - Orochi Nagi (qcb, hcf+P) is a move where you can hold to delay. If you delay this long enough, the move will be automatically performed. This cheat, by adjusting various values, will allow Kyo to delay until desired (value is not 0x00) or to immediately perform it without delay ...

[kof98] Yamazaki's Drill

Yamazaki's Drill (hcb, hcb+P (close)) is a move where you have to mash a button repeatedly. Depending on how many times you mash the buttons (and whether the move is a DM or SDM), one of four outcomes will occur. This is a cheat that lets you select the outcome. However, this does have some side-effe...

[kof98] Heavy D!'s Shadow

Heavy D!'s Shadow Attack (d,d+P) allows his next special move (including the Shadow) to do more damage (However, the enhanced version of the Shadow will NOT enhance the next special - only the unenhanced version has that property). Here's a cheat that allows Heavy D! to always have the power of Shad...

1-4-04 Wow. Time to take this out of the shelf where it was collecting dust and hope that my rewrite (version 2.0) is done in time to be included in the next cheat file. The proper directions for performing a cheat has been moved OFF of the cheat comments and into comment lines that appear before e...

My new project - kelvSYC's MAME Cheat Validator

I'm in the midst of building a MAME Cheat Validator. However, I will need some public assistance in design. Namely, assistance is needed to spot instances where a) the cheat engine will stop loading a cheat file and "bail out" or b) where the cheat engine's behavior is undefined. This list...

If memory serves me right, 2005 (2004 will see the return of KOF2001, and ROTD was in the same group as KOF2002). Too bad the "emulated KOF storyline" was not a full storyline (four years) behind... It's also why, since the games were removed in v.74, I've stopped on some rather promising ...

When you save an entry, it is appended to the bottom of the file. With my experiences (I have to admit I haven't been playing MAME much lately, this may have been fixed), if you use "auto save cheats", if a line changes, the modified line is appended to the bottom of the file, while the or...

It could be (and this is pure speculation) because the numbers may be stored on two bytes instead of one, and you are changing only one of them. To clarify: Say you have a two-bit hex integer like 0x0000. Your cheat changes the value to 0x00FF. Then, when the value increases naturally (ie. without c...

I read on "The New Mame Cheat Engine Manual/FAQ" that it is something like watching the "addresses" (but which one to watch?) for anything that changes before you get -like- a power-up. Tourniquet's FAQ is slightly outdated. It hasn't been updated since before the v.60 days (whe...
