[vcop2] “Infinite Ammo” & “Weapon Select”

Hi guys,

The great lightgun shooter Virtua Cop 2 is now working smoothly in the latest version of MAME!

As there are no cheats for this game, is there any chance someone can create an “Infinite Ammo” and “Weapon Select” cheat?

Having “Infinite Ammo” would be awesome, as there is presently no option for a right-click (mouse) reload!

There are also 4 different types of weapons in the game that make it more fun with increasing power!:
Magnum, Shotgun, Automatic and Machine Gun.

Don't know how to actually change/pickup weapon in game so I haven't looked...But this is a start

Is there any chance you can adapt your cheats to the .xml format so I can paste them into the existing vcop2.xml file? I could be wrong, but the cheats appear to be in the older cheat.dat format - any help on converting these would be great!

To help out, I’ve also tried saving states in MAME when a player obtains a Magnum, Rifle etc, however when I ‘reload’ the state in MAME the game freezes.

If it helps, here’s a few screen grabs on where you can obtain the following weapons in the game:

“Machine Gun” - Stage 1 - Shoot picture frame in the jewellery store



“Rifle” - Stage 1 - Shoot blue bin in front of apartment building



“Automatic” - Stage 1 - Shoot purple dumpster at construction site



“Magnum” - Stage 2 - Shoot white computer on second floor of lobby



“Shotgun” - Stage 2 - Shoot control room monitor (globe) (after choosing Bridge right-hand course)

I'll take another look at the weapons.

The cheat format can be pasted into the cheat.simple file (inside the cheat folder in your mame dir) and can be used from the plugin cheat which will work fine in any mame from the last 3 years. Its ideal for quick cheats or for game genie cheats as the plugin converts them

It was a quick find using the cheat finder plugin, as they weren't anything special I didn't get round to converting them. Weapon select cheats will need to be XML so I'll convert them all if I get chance to look for them.

Any cheats I post in cheat.simple format will always be converted to XML format for cheat releases.
