Finding these wasn't so bad, you just gotta have a strategy! -_^

(Hint: To start a one player game, insert 1 coin and then press the FLIP button [default: X].)

Here are the cheats:

Thanks for your great work ! Only 1 (or perhaps 2) mahjong games are still missing now

Even if it's impossible to play with player 2 for the moment, you can use the 2UP cheats to watch CPU's hand

BTW, I think this can add some new challenge for other mahjong games and new massive posts

Great Stuff tECHIDNA

Another 2 games can be removed from the missing list ... Pity I think 0.57 is going to swell that list back out - so many games from it don't work at all for me

Thanks Steph for testing and adding the PL2 stuff......I'm never going to play a Mahjong game if I can help it...they are all generally meant for pervs  Anyway back to Moeyo Gonta

How many TOTAL games are left in your list ?

I don't have all ROMS yet, but the games I've tested are OK
Thanks Steph for testing and adding the PL2 stuff......
No problem

Playing mahjong is very funny (even if I wouldn't have put a single coin in such machines) ... And this has NOTHING to do with the gals !

Well not including the 0.57 games there is no only 4:-

Code: Select all

; goldmedl [ Gold Medalist ] <-------------------------------------[Reason 1]
; neckneck [ Neck-n-Neck ] <---------------------------------------[Reason 3]
; shufshot [ Shuffleshot ] <---------------------------------------[Reason 3]
; sundance [ Sundance ] <------------------------------------------[Reason 1]
I don't have all ROMS yet, but the games I've tested are OK
Well I've had a few that just crash MAME - I can't remember names though and nobody has posted cheats for them either so I don't think it's a coincidence.

Do you mean I'll have to add PL2 cheats to all the Mahjong games? Aaargh! Too many.....overload!

BTW, have a look at my ragnagard ROM cheats....not bad without an assembler! Why haven't you included any ROM cheats yet?

So you could release an "alpha" cheat database soon ?

When I have included my mahjong cheats and some other MAME 0.57 games, I should down my list to approx 250 NON NEOGEO games without cheats ...

I'll then need to check the sport games (mainly for "score" cheats) and the puzzle games (to "comment" the cheats from your cheat database) ...

I'll also have to look at the "missing" CPS2 games (mainly all the SF2 and SF3 family, as well as the "Dungeons & Dragons" ones) ...

Then I guess it will be time to look at the "Bubble Bobble" games ('bublbob2', 'bubblem' and their clones) again to find all the possible cheats ...

The last "step" will be the inclusion of the NEOGEO cheats (BTW, do you still have the lakneo.zip file ? If so, please mail it to me to upstephh.cheats@free.fr) ...

As you can see, I still have a lot to do (and I don't speak about the drivers fixes I submit to MAME Team !)

Code: Select all

; goldmedl [ Gold Medalist ] <-------------------------------------[Reason 1]
; sundance [ Sundance ] <------------------------------------------[Reason 1]
As they are not working, nobody will be able to help

Code: Select all

; neckneck [ Neck-n-Neck ] <---------------------------------------[Reason 3]
I had a look at that game, but what do you want to find ? There might be a POSSIBLE cheat to hack the timer, but what is the interest ?

Code: Select all

; shufshot [ Shuffleshot ] <---------------------------------------[Reason 3]
I haven't tried this game yet ... AFAIK, there are troubles with the inputs, so I think I'll wait until they are fixed ...
Well I've had a few that just crash MAME - I can't remember names though and nobody has posted cheats for them either so I don't think it's a coincidence.
I guess you are speaking about Namco games ... FYI, it has been told that you could play these games under PURE DOS ... I haven't checked this yet though ...
Do you mean I'll have to add PL2 cheats to all the Mahjong games? Aaargh! Too many.....overload!
Well ... All I want to add is a way to watch the tiles of the CPU/other player ... IMO, it's only a copy/paste from one game to another with the addresses that may change ... If you have another description than mine, please let me know, and I'll send you a file to YOUR format when I've ended mine

BTW, I know this isn't possible yet, but will it be possible to have "linked watches" in the future cheat engine ? Or better, having a type of cheat that would also indicate the "number of bytes" of a watch (13 or 14 for the mahjong games) ? IMO, the extra field ("mask" field ?) could be used ...
BTW, have a look at my ragnagard ROM cheats....not bad without an assembler!
Really cool (even if I'm not a interested much in the NEOGEO games yet) ! Real thanks to your "source" explanations !

Note that my skills about the M68000 have improved a lot due to the number of games I had to check for my Dip Switches ... However, I don't think I could be able to write some code as for the Z80 (I mean only with opcodes) ...
Why haven't you included any ROM cheats yet?
First, ROM cheats are NOT available in MAME 0.57 OFFICIAL cheat engine

Then, I must admit I have no time yet to check them, and try to find new ones ...

Sorry, for the long post ... I guess I should have mailed my answer to you ... But now it's too late

So you could release an "alpha" cheat database soon ?
Well....I think the next release will be a proper release. No alpha or betas as by the time I've got it to alpha status it will almost be ready anyway.
As you can see, I still have a lot to do (and I don't speak about the drivers fixes I submit to MAME Team !)
Busy busy busy then.....
As they are not working, nobody will be able to help
I know but they should be changed back to testdrivers....some testdrivers seem to work better than them.

; neckneck [ Neck-n-Neck ] <---------------------------------------[Reason 3]
I had a look at that game, but what do you want to find ? There might be a POSSIBLE cheat to hack the timer, but what is the interest ?

Hehe....well to delete it from the games with no cheats list - that's been the main reason for the list reducing in size not the fact that cheats where needed or even wanted
; shufshot [ Shuffleshot ] <---------------------------------------[Reason 3]
I haven't tried this game yet ... AFAIK, there are troubles with the inputs, so I think I'll wait until they are fixed ...
{/quote]

Well the control isn't perfect but it's possible to perform rudimentary searches - but the locations are useless as they don't effect the end result. The dodgy control doesn't help though...
I guess you are speaking about Namco games ... FYI, it has been told that you could play these games under PURE DOS ... I haven't checked this yet though ...

Doh.....well I'm not going to bother then. Anybody?
Well ... All I want to add is a way to watch the tiles of the CPU/other player ... IMO, it's only a copy/paste from one game to another with the addresses that may change ... If you have another description than mine, please let me know, and I'll send you a file to YOUR format when I've ended mine
Thanks, as long as you stick to the same descriptions I should be able to manage a quick find and replace.
Can't see the point myself.....but then i'm not a mahjong fan
First, ROM cheats are NOT available in MAME 0.57 OFFICIAL cheat engine

Then, I must admit I have no time yet to check them, and try to find new ones ...
ROM cheats are available in the official 0.57 - infact they been available for ages now...Well i've been compiling MAME from the standard mame source and it works flawlessy

ROM cheats are fun to find though....It's great finding invincibility for games where it was previously impossible but highly desirable! To think of the time I wasted trying to find RAM Invincibility for Paperboy...
Sorry, for the long post ... I guess I should have mailed my answer to you ... But now it's too late

How to enable the ROM cheat in MAME 0.57 ?

Do I have to compile my own ?
If so, what needs to be changed in the source to enable ROM cheat ?

Thank you!
