Cheat Search

Post by ViolatedBird »

Where did the cheat search go in the latest versions of mame?

What special/old (ugh!) version of MAME do I need to be able to use the cheat search via the debugger?

"ci" is an unknown command. "help" indicates that there are no cheat related commands whatsoever.

How do we search for cheats?

Works fine in the latest 0.153 from the official mame site ( http://www.mamedev.org/release.html ). Which version+build are you using?

I just downloaded the latest 0.153 64bit from the link you provided and I can't search for cheats either. Maybe some configuration difference...

I can do searchs on an older build MAME32 Plus! Plus! 0.119 but it is the only build I have that has that functionality.

Could you help please?

Well currently 'ci' and cheat help both work, it's just that nothing else including cn does in cheat search.

There is a bug raised for it on mametesters.

You cannot compare the cheat engine in 0.119 (which is from 6+ years ago) with the current cheat engine, the old cheat engine was stripped out in 0.126 which was over 4 years ago.

The current cheat engine is driven from the debugger with typed commands and was working fine upto 0.152.

Sorry, I managed to get the debugger to work and realized that the cheat engine in 0.119 was different reading here in the forum, but I couldn't correct myself because it was my first post.

I also found your complain on mametesters and realized why the debugger in 0.153 wasn't working. So I used the 0.152 instead and managed to found a cheat that is not in the forums, although I might need some help because it doesn't work completely. It's for the game Super Real Mahjong VS. I'll post it soon.

Thank you very much for the reply! Best regards!
