Cheat database not found

Post by jkosturik »

I am using MAME32 v062. I downloaded the cheat files v174 and put it in the same directory as mame32.exe. I unzipped the file into the same directory. One of the files extracted is cheat.7z which I did not unzip. When I run one of my games in Mame and I press the tab key to get the configuration menu I then select Cheat, then enable/disable cheat. No matter what game I select I get a message "cheat database not found". I know there are cheats that exist for my games because I had this working years ago.

You can't use the v174 cheat file with a MAME v062.

v174 was released in May 2016
v062 was released in Nov 2002

You will need to update your MAME version to something 13 years newer or use the cheat file from around that era....eg the Cheat File for MAME 0.67 (link on the MAME cheat files page).

Personally I'd update MAME
