Cheats won't work on MameUI64 0.130u2

I can't get the cheats to work under MameUI64 0.130u2. I put the cheat.zip file in the same directory as the .exe, set use Cheats in Default options and cannot get the option to cheat when I hit TAB while running a game.

Any help appreciated.

Lots of the new games introduced since 0.126 have no cheats yet (no cheat finding functionality in new cheat engine yet) so make sure that you are playing a game which has been in MAME since before 0.126.

The next release will have comments for these games so that the cheat option will still appear even if there are no actual cheats.

Thanks - if I use Mame 1.26 will most of the 1.30u2 roms work?

That's not what I meant.

I mean to confirm that cheats are working for you in MAME 0.130u2 pick a game that was in 0.126 to ensure that the game you have picked has cheats...because if the game has no cheats then the cheat option will NOT appear.

For eg,

Try running one of the versions of asteroids in MAME 0.130u2, and check to see if the cheat option appears in the TAB menu. If it does then any game you try which doesn't have the cheat option is because they have no cheats.

I can select no cheats for Asteroids. It's not working for some reason even though I downloaded the proper cheats (cheat130u2.zip) and put the cheat.zip in the main directory and pointed MAMEUI64 to the file under Show Directories for Cheats.

Still won't work and if I go Options > Cheat file nothing happens.

I hate mameui/mame32.....it's rubbish for messing simple things up.


Follow these instructions:-

Select Options
Select Directories
Show Directories for Cheats
Highlight the Directory you are pointing to double click it so you can manually edit it
manually change it so it says 'cheat' and nothing else (drop the quotes btw), Click OK to continue on any error messages about the Directory not existing
Select OK

Now try it
