Need help activating cheats with MAME 0.141 64 bit

Hi, I have installed on my system the mame0141b_64bit.exe file that I downloaded from mamedev.org. It is the MAME 0.141 64-bit Windows command-line binaries. This is the only version of mame that I chould get working on my PC (Vista 64bit). In the directly that I installed it to, there isn't a MAME.INI file for me to edit. There's a mame64.exe and a mame.sym though. How should I activate the cheats with my MAME?

I use the 64 bit commandline version

Enter this on the commandline (when in the correct directory) to create an .ini file:-
mame64 -cc

or just start the game with cheats on a game-by-game basis by typing:-
mame64 -cheat gamename (eg. mame64 -cheat invaders)

Hey thanks Pugsy, your advice works, I'm now playing 3rd strike with training mode cheat on.
