Hello, I have a question.

Is it possible to convert a code that works for later versions of MAME so that it will work for an earlier version???

Let me explain...

I am currently setting up homebrew on my Wii U, and right now I am testing the latest RetroArch for the system. It has four MAME cores: MAME 2000 (v 0.37b5), MAME 2003 (v 0.78), MAME 2009 (v 0.135u4), and MAME 2010 (v 0.139). I found that Mortal Kombat can only work best with MAME 2003, and cheats work for it except I need to use the cheat.dat (the one for 0.81 works great!). There is only one more code I need for the game and that is Infinite Fatality Time. This is the code below:

:mk:39900000:094228:0000C0F0:FFFFFFFF:Infinite Fatality Time

This code, however, while it works in later versions, it will not work for MAME 2003. So, is there a way to convert it so it works with the v 0.81 cheat.dat??? Any and all help would be much appreciated, and I will be posting similar topics for Mortal Kombat II and UMK3. Thank you!!!

This might work....

Code: Select all

mk:0:1FF94228:00:110:Infinite Fatality Time
mk:0:1FF94229:00:610:Infinite Fatality Time (2/4)
mk:0:1FF9422A:F0:610:Infinite Fatality Time (3/4)
mk:0:1FF9422B:C0:610:Infinite Fatality Time (4/4)
I won't be posting on the similar topics, there are no long-term benefits in back-porting cheats from new versions of MAME to old versions.

I appreciate that you want to run MAME on low-spec hardware which is why you are using an old version of MAME, but cheat support for old versions of MAME for workload reasons alone has got to be limited to what you will find on the cheat download page (aka cheat081.zip).

Hi I'm trying to use this cheat on Mame 0.72 on the xbox 360. I'm using the latest version by lantus and it supports cheats however it's in the old cheat.dat format. So I've copied and pasted the classic format cheats for Night Mode specifically into the cheat.dat and saved it however it isnt working.
When I access the cheat menu the cheats show however where you toggle on and off it's highlighted - what does this mean.
Is there a reason for this not working. Other codes already in the cheat.dat work i.e turn scorpion green and infinite player health.

I really want to play using the night mode so any help would be appreciated.

I am using the Mortal Kombat (rev 5.0 T-Unit 03/19/93) rom version as well

Thanks in advance.
