Hi there. I don't really know where to place this topic, feel free to move it.
Anyway, I'm Arch Linux user and want to make a package with your cheat.zip file (i.e. redistribute). But for that I must know the license for the file. Is it PD, CC-something-SA? WTFPL maybe?
Cheats Collection license. What is it?

Re: Cheats Collection license. What is it?
To be honest I've never given it a great deal of thought...and you are the first one to mention it. Any individual cheats in this forum/submitted can be taken as Public Domain. I don't know if the collection needs a license or what type of license to put on the full collection, anybody any ideas/suggestions?
In the mean time, I have no problems with the current 0.131 XML collection being distributed with any Arch Linux package as long as the package contains no commercial ROMs, and a link to www.mamecheat.co.uk would be nice in any package docs.

Re: Cheats Collection license. What is it?
As users kindly provide their work to this forums without any declaration of its license, let's assume license is unknown. This will be the easiest way to deal with it.Pugsy wrote:To be honest I've never given it a great deal of thought...and you are the first one to mention it. I've got a nice reply here, by the way: http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/aur- ... 06213.html
The package itself would contain just cheat.zip and essential package information. No ROMs at all. And there surely would be URL to this site.Pugsy wrote:In the mean time, I have no problems with the current 0.131 XML collection being distributed with any Arch Linux package as long as the package contains no commercial ROMs, and a link to http://www.mamecheat.co.uk would be nice in any package docs.
So I will probably stop on 'unknown' license, but if you decide to provide cheats under some specific license, I'll change it at once. Thank for your reply!

Meanwhile, I've submitted the PKGBUILD (file used to build package) here: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=29096
