Shima, lately there have been a few times Pugsy made mistakes on his cheats.
But that doesn't mean he's losing his touch or that his cheats are not understandable, you've just got to learn which codes can still be used in the current cheats and which ones can't. (As long as they still work they shouldn't be a problem).
In every post you say "Don't believe Pugsy", and it makes me wonder if you're becoming jealous.
I'm sorry I had to say that, but I would like to see you have your own Mame cheat sheet. Yeah, go for it.

Maybe shimapong should make his own cheat database, and use rapidshare to distribute it. I'd be interested to know if shimapong could make a better and more complete cheat.dat file than pugsy, because he's making a big issue out of a few items of organization.
With such a clear idea of how the cheat.dat file should look, and such a determination to make the file look that way, I believe it's possible for shimapong to spend less time talking about how bad pugsy is doing, and make something better.
If shimapong went after some of the other cheat sites on the net today, I'm sure he'd die of an aneurysm after 10 pages of yelling at his screen.
I know he'd die if he saw how badly I optimize my NSF and GBS rips, even though they work fine.
Maybe a nice wiki that can occasionally be compiled into a mame cheat file is the answer. If it was just a matter of the cheat.dat addresses being sequential, that could be dealt with using an automated program. If it was organizing by cheat type, see the wiki idea. Converting to the new cheat format could be accomplished with a lookup table, or a few mame source files compiled into something to add original and converted codes to a new output file. Minor formatting issues, like leading 0s, could easily be corrected automatically.
There's got to be some way to fix a few of shimapong's perceived cheat.dat errors without dying from the effort. If the problems are too small, or the solution is too large, or if shimapong hasn't explained what he wants done well enough, then perhaps this thread would be a good place to start addressing issues instead of throwing complaints.
I see a lot of complaints, even in this post, but I get the impression that the complaints are turning into a p##s contest to see who's right and who wins, instead of a debate for making the cheat file better.
I just hope that pugsys long-time efforts won't die in a war over how things are done.

for what i understood, looking around in the forum, shima is SUPER perfectionist: he always goes back to re-edit and re-check cheats in order to reach the 'perfect' cheat dat...
in my opinion this is a wonderful goal, but it would be MUCH easier (even for him) if he would share his WIP cheat.dat (and i underline WIP, as he consider his cheats) with other users
this way, probably, bugs would be found much more easily (testing everything being 1 single person, it's a huge task)
just my 2 cents
