mame32.0.9U1 Cheat Engine Help

I downloaded the latest cheat engine and unzipped file into my main directory but when trying to apply a cheat I get a message that says no cheat file.
What file do I need to download to get cheats?

mame32 0.9u1 sounds like it's MAME 0.90u1 from January 2005. The cheat file format has changed multiple times since 2005 so the newest cheat collection wont work.
You will need to grab "Cheat File for MAME 0.81 (Release Date: 21st April 2004)" for that version of MAME.
I'd recommend you update to a newer version of MAME that's not 16 years old if you want to use the newest cheats.

Thanks. It's hard because my games work in this version but then if I upgraded to a new version my games wont work. Got any recommendations for a MAME dump for the latest version?

There are multiple places to find mame roms, however this is not the place to ask.
