@Puggsy, on behalf of Haze: could you search basic cheats for this game? he'd like to test the game in later levels but "he sucks at it [the game]" (quoting his own words)
he would ask directly, but the forum seems to blacklist all the mail provider David uses

Re: ROM cheats for megadrive in MESS
well, in MAME you can edit rom regions from the memory window (I have just tried mt_soni2 ;) ) and then the CPU see the new value when that area is accessed. whether that is useful or not, it's another matter ;) anyway, Micko has said he will take a look when he can, and I will see if I can help as ...

Re: ROM cheats for megadrive in MESS
how was it working before the carts were slotified? rimsky82 reported that the issue was ROMs not being editable in the memory windows, because they were not available anymore, so I guessed that fixing that it was enough... I now see that it's not, and I fear the thing becomes a lot more problematic...

ROM cheats for megadrive in MESS
More than one year ago, rimsky82 reported the impossibility to create ROM cheats in MESS for megadrive since the system is now using slot devices for carts (see also MT bug 05488) I think I have fixed (in svn revision 31900) the problem, and thus now ROM cheats should be possible again: cart data is...

Re: How to bulk split NES files (tip)
Assuming that you refer to split PRG/CHR, there are other ways to obtain this. for instance, if you are capable of building MAME/MESS, you can open http://git.redump.net/mame/tree/src/mess/machine/nes.c change SPLIT_PRG 0 & SPLIT_CHR 0 to SPLIT_PRG 1 & SPLIT_CHR 1, recompile and create a bat...

Re: MESS 0.147 XML Cheats Collection for Sega Megadrive/Gene
Another small issue with MESS cheats: some cheats for megadrive (maybe also for other systems?) contain invalid xml comments see e.g. akumajo.xml which has comments containing multiple dashes ( -- ), which is invalid in xml standards and hence does not load properly in MESS (or MAME fwiw) If such a ...

Re: MESS 0.147 XML Cheats Collection for Sega Megadrive/Gene
May I suggest you to add to the documentation a note about possible conflicts across xml in different cheatpaths? e.g. if I have both the MAME cheats and the MD cheats in my path, there might be conflicts between games with the same shortnames, like mk or nbajam. or if I have MD and SMS cheats, ther...

Re: MESS 0.146 XML Cheats Collection for Nintendo NES
Hi Pugsy, I have really enjoyed these cheats. Could you anyway re-create the xmls taking into account that xml does not allow for '&'? Currently, all games with a '&' in the description get a cheat xml which is not parsed properly. a replacement '&'->'&' through game descriptions whe...

Re: MESS : What kind of cheats to add ?
The problem with computer is that we may never have "proper dumps" of floppies, thus no software list well, tools like KryoFlux will help for sure. and in the meanwhile one can create a list with the best possible dumps to at least document what software existed (at a later stage, better ...

Re: MESS : What kind of cheats to add ?
And according to the code in MAME 0.141u2, the cheat engine is able to load multiple cheat files if there are multiple devices (eg multiple MegaTech cartridges) ... this is something absolutely necessary in MESS, because e.g. for pc engine you need to use the -cart name for HuCard games, but the -c...

Re: MESS : What kind of cheats to add ?
Support for softwarelist cheats has only recently been added though (not tried them myself yet). I'm a little concerned that the softwarelists will get updated/changed around a lot so deadbeef.xml will always be correct but gamename.xml may change. hopefully not that much. the problem is that, as y...

you need to press Q to power-up the system. concerning the bios, it has to be zipped as ngpc.zip in the roms/ directory.

Re: NES Cheats
you don't have to use the crc of the rom but of the "rom - 0x10 first byte (the header)". you can check such a crc in the hash file
hash/nes.hsi
in your mess folder

Re: MESS 0.134 GBA Cheat File
About MESS cheats: if you really decide to release some cheat pack, please advertise the release on MESS forum, because I think it would get a larger resonance (I'm not sure many MESS users know about this forum). I would be the first to download them :) For the mirror thing, it can wait. For sure w...

Re: MESS 0.134 GBA Cheat File
I'd be very interested in all of these MESS cheats (we could also offer them as a download at MESS wiki, if you agree)
also, I'm improving NES driver and I'd be interested to see some NES cheats as well
in any case, thanks for the work you do on MAME/MESS cheats!

it's not mandatory. if no l/p is provided, MAME uses the default value, i.e. 'l'
no need to change all the cheats
no need to change all the cheats

Re: My personal system for the search of the cheat
I hope you will submit the changes to Aaron soon: even if you plan to change some more code, inclusion in next update would allow much wider testing among both MAMEDev and MAME users, with faster reports of bugs and other possible issues
great work in any case!
