You do realise that in most cases it's a lot easier to simply rip the strings out of the program roms than play thoruhg the whole game? :)

Re: [dragnblz] : "basic" cheats

It's a standard Psikyo shoot'em up, so the cheats were very easy to find :) Note that, for once, the programmers didn't bother in having different max. values for the magic power depending on the selected character ... I don't think that anything else is needed for that game ... I leave the "L...

Re: [gnbarich] : "basic" cheats

For once, a game in which I find an interest (I've ended it without cheating in about 3 hours on easiest settings with the guy) with the advantage of the AWESOME Psikyo GFX 8) Bricks MIGHT be coded on 2 bytes, but I think that the "end level" cheat works for all levels with bricks ... I'l...

Oops, I normally add that to the comment.
It's up, Up, Left, Down, Down, Right, A, B, A, B, A, Start (After inserting credit).
It uses a 16-byte ringbuffer to record the keystrokes and then analyses it when you hit start.

[dimahoo] Secret Char Cheat

Code: Select all

:dimahoo:00000000:928A8B:00000001:FFFFFFFF:Enable Secret Chars:Enable before Character Select Screen
It's either that or fill the input ring-buffer with the code.

Yes they were, I posted them friggin' ages ago :)

Don't you hate the way the board soft adds an extra [/code] at the end of the post if you use the "Code" button.

There are plenty of good compiling guides, but it's quite simple really. Unzip mingw_for_mame.zip somewhere useful i.e C:\Mingw. Make.exe and the compiler executables should now be in C:\Mingw\bin. Try building plain old MAME to start with. Unzip the source somewhere, some people use C:\Mingw\MAME. ...

I wasn't aware Kawaks supported dynamic cheats, I know Nebula does but Kawaks didn't used to support indirect or conditional cheats.

Dunno, fine here both with and without cheats.

Apart from that they worked pretty well. Only checked Ryu's though. I couldn't do two of the moves, It guess it depends on the ?-Ism still.

Kelv_SYC: Doh! I had a quick go and realised that you've tried to use a 16-bit cheat instead of 2x8-bit (which is a bit cheeky :) ) but there seems to be a problem. Under the cheat engine in MAME 0.61 e.g Ryu PL1's cheat should read: :sfa3:00100000:FF8580:00000406:0000FFFF:Hadou Ken:qcf+P (XAV) :sfa...

It would be nice for Pugsy's dat to continue, although I haven't been willing to take the entire burden myself I would still like to be involved.

cheat.dat Update Project

I don't know if anyone else is aware of this but some guy has publically expressed his desire to continue updating Pugsy's cheat.dat. He obviously isn't aware that most games post-0.56 already have cheats or of the existence of this forum. The site is at http://mamecheats.fateback.com/cheats/ and he...

It definitely does work. The extra options are a touch more primitive than for the Psikyo SH-2 games.

Try resetting (F3) whilst holding PL1 Button 1 and the Test mode enabled.

This also lets you play the levels of Strikers 1945 as long as you can get it past the Security Chip verification.

It works the same.
hold button 1 whilst entering test. The only difference is that test is a dip switch and toggles rather than an inpulse type input.
