WIP Again

This forum is for making announcements about updated cheat files (for any emulator), updated web pages and of course about improvements to the MAME/MESS cheat engine.

Here's something. When I tried to start a new cheat search that would override my existing one, I get a result of "0 results found". What's that about?! The only way for me (AFAIK) was to reload the database.

In the old-style plus or minus search dialog, instead of showing + or - whatever, it shows the value from the exact value dialog. That is, the same value shows up in the Lives and Timers dialog when you continue your search.

To explain more carefully, timer search old-style is broken and it's doing a lives search instead.

Ian, also note that MacMAME crashes when you select Add/Edit Cheat on the second game you play. I don't know about any subsequent ones, though, but the second one for sure.

Are you sure that you were in the "start a new cheat search" menu and that you weren't doing something that would never evaluate to true (like doing current value != current value)?

Try it. It is using the same variable, but it does do a delta search. Fixed a related bug making negative deltas not work.

OK, I have it clear all variables at de-init time now. I'll need to test this on MacOS before saying it's fixed, though.

No, I'm sure I did a new cheat search (old-style), and what you said about the delta search, frankly, confuses me. I actually liked the old-style delta searching better.

For some reason the only button that I could assign as the activation key from the menus (not from the cheat file) is the Return key. Any other key doesn't work. Any ideas?

Sorry, you're right. Bug fixed. Can you elaborate on the difference between delta searches now and in the previous engine? I just added a decimal view, which should make it 100% the same as the old version.

If this is on MacOS, it may mean that osd_readkey_unicode is broken there also. In that case, I'll define OSD_READKEY_KLUDGE to 1 for all platforms. Hopefully this will fix the problem (activation key assigning works fine in Win32.)

Talking of which, to be consistent withe the rest of the UI, when you assign a cheat to ESC (The first time) it should really clear the assignment. (And subsequent assignments of ESC alternate between ESC and cleared)

It shouldn't have allowed assigning ESC as an activation key in the first place. Fixed.
