I've set the maximum to 255 for no reason. Theoretically, there are 81 squares on the board (two of which are occupied by kings), so there are 79 usable spaces, but practically, there are only 18 pawns, four of most other pieces, and two of rooks and bishops.
Note to cheat collectors: stick to one form of piece nomenclature (English or Japanese) so as to not confuse people. For "nari-" pieces, put "Promoted" before the piece name. "Tokin" is a promoted pawn.
