i checked history.dat and mortal kombat wiki pages.. there's no "toasty" info for MK3 & UMK3.
are you sure special screen-level appears in MK3 or UMK3, when "toasty" appears and special buttons pressed etc?
give some info and it will be easy to trace it, because nearly same gamecode is used for all these games.

Well, in MK3 and UMK3 sometimes, Dan's face appears after uppercut or combo and say "toasty". But he don't have special secret how Smoke in MK2.
Dan's face appear and say "frosty" too. When you play with Sub-Zero and your opponent is in DANGER, you can freeze your opponent and Dan's face appear and say "frosty". This can help you...

I take a look once again in your cheat proto (bp FF80ECB0,1,{a2=500;g}) and this have other effect.
After Dead Pool Fatality you always listen "Awwwa!" sound. How in Kombat Tomb Spikes Trick, using this cheat, don't is necessary hold down for this trick work.
