Needed cheat codes that make easy the special moves for KoF

Hi All, I'm looking for cheat codes that make easy the special moves (like the cheat codes in Street Fighter 2 and 2'). It makes the game a lot faster specially with characters with long moves or with hold button moves, like Guile.

Fortunately Street Fighter 2 and 2' has those cheat codes, but KOF, Samurai Shodown, Super SF, Alpha SF, and all the rest of the fighting games don't have them.
Do you know if they have been created or they are uploaded in any website?

KelvSYC made a load of movelist cheats years ago, I converted them into XML format back in 2010.

I've said before as they stand they are not going to get readded to the cheat file. You can of course just add cheatmlc to the cheat path

In mame.ini change

cheatpath cheat;
to
cheatpath cheat;cheatmlc

and drop the cheatmlc.zip into the same dir as the mame exe.

Grab the file from here:-

http://www.mediafire.com/file/1jw8sw48p ... heatmlc.7z

You may need to rename some of the xml files to match the latest mame shortnames

Thanks Pugsy for the info.

I tried with your Cheatmic.7z, but it's not working.

In my Mame.ini I have this entry:

# CORE FILENAME OPTIONS
cheat_file cheat.dat

And I changed to:
cheat_file cheatmic (I also tried with cheatmic.7z and cheat.zip)

I already downloaded the latest cheat file from 2020 (Cheat.zip), but it's not reading it.
It keeps reading the cheat.dat.

I use windows 10 (64 bit) and the mames I use are Mame32 and Mame++.
Both run the games nicely with the cheats, but only the ones in cheat.dat.

If I remove cheat.dat or change it to .old, it says cheat database not found.

I also downloaded the latest Mame (it is around 300Mb), but it doesn't play the fighting games, only the easy ones. It just asks for lot of missing files. And honestly, the latest Mame looks horrible. the GUI of the other two are far better.

Any suggestion on how to proceed? Thanks.

I'm sorry if you are using cheat.dat then the version of MAME you are using was released over 13 years ago (at least).

The reason you are missing lots of files is because you are missing lots of files.

Lots of games have been dumped/redumped over the last 13 years and romsets have changed names.

There is a dat version of KelvSYC movelist collection somewhere (it was released nearly 20 years ago), but I don't even know if it'll do what you want it to do at this stage.

My advice in requests for cheat.dat format cheats is always the same....update your MAME and your files. The response is invariably I don't want to and the version I have works fine/I don't have the ROMs or I can't run a newer MAME because my PC is a potato or I'm running MAME via RA (bad idea).

The fact is there have been at least 13 years of updates to the emulation and it's more accurate now then it used to be.

If you don't want to update to a newer MAME then fine, and I can't guarantee the movelist cheats will do what you want anyway.

You are totally right, the Mames I have are 15 to 20 years old. :)

I Already downloaded the last Mame and some of the new roms for testing (from KoF94 to KoF98), from this web:
https://archive.org/download/mame-0.236 ... 8split%29/

I placed them in the ROM folder, I audit them, but I still getting the message that I have lot of missing files when I try to play any of those games.
With the old Mames is the way I use to do it. Am I doing something wrong?

Another thing:
The last week I've been updating the cheat.dat file with move lists I've found from KelvSYC, like SFAlpha2 or KOF95.
However, the special moves are activated just pressing the punch or kick button. And that's a pity, because you loose lot of moves and you can use only one special move per punch or kick.
Do we have move lists like the SF2 or SF2', where you need to move towards a direction + the punch or kick?
Or can we modify those lists to also include the directional moving?
Or even better to assign a different key on the keyboard? In that way we don't loose any moves at all?

Thanks for the info.
