Mermaid Melody Ekara games (ekaraj a1-a8)

Post by Ubiquitor »

Hi, I've been trying to dig into these games for my fandom and while they do technically run in MAME, allowing me to progress the story modes to a point, they're fundamentally Karaoke games and the second one of those segments comes up, it's impossible to progress.

Progression seems to be tied to a score, between 0-100, which starts at 0 and raises as you sing, denoted by the large number in the top right here - https://i.imgur.com/3dB0JfE.png . I think I really just need a way to pin that value at a high enough number to pass. There are other values you can manipulate in that screen, if it helps finding a memory address, the various keys can change the song key and volume

The game is in Japanese, but a karaoke segment can be accessed by just mashing through the first selected menu options

There are 8 of these games, but I'd settle for getting decent access to one for now, lets say A3

I hope someone can help!

Hi, sorry, I should've specified. I don't know how to access them via the GUI, it's probably possible but I haven't tried, I've been opening them using the command prompt:

mame ekaraj X

where X is A1 through A8, depending on the title. I can check to see what it's called in the GUI later when I get home

EDIT - Ok I got home and was able to have a look. If you filter by Manufacturer "Takara / SSD Company LTD", then select ekara (Japan), you'll see all eight in the list, A1-A3 as "Mermaid Melody..." and A4-A8 as "Pichi Pichi Pitch...". If there is a single memory address that would work between games then that would be absolutely amazing, although I get that's extremely unlikely. If I could just get A3 (Vol. 3) for now though, that'd be amazing.

Also I realise now that this might've been a better topic for the "SoftwareList" forum, sorry if this is the wrong place for this!
