help with activation Key cheat (mame0123u1)

i have a simple problem with the
Key activation cheat.
(I don't know if i missed it somewhere , but i searched
the mameworld forum ?, the sources and also here for this issue ... didn't
find anything about it.)
cheat engine as in 0123u1 release
When i type the example from the faq file
:gamename:63004000:00000001:00000010:00000000:
the corresponding cheat will have in it's first
activation key a blank and not "Q".
Can someone help me resolve this ?
