0.148 doesn't work

I followed the directions to a T (for Megadriv) and the cheat option doesn't appear in the menu.
Did they change how cheats work or something?
Edit: Apparently the XML file names are no longer the ROM's CRC32s. So it doesn't work anymore. Why is it like this?
