This forum is for posting M.A.M.E. Work In Progress "Arcade"cheats that are not quite ready for the prime time. If the cheats are buggy or the cheat descriptions are non-standard then please post them here. Help maybe given but there are no guarantees and they will only be added to the cheat file when the cheat file maintainer is happy with them.
One Shot: On
Data: 00000009(9) [This is the value that you start with in Normal mode. Change this to a value between 0-56 if you like.
Byte Length: 32-bit
Endianess: Swap
After that, set a activation key for it if you like.
Activate it every time you play a song because it will only work once.
This will cause the cheat do not only changing the groove value, but make the qualification line to zero that will make you always win, and if you are messed up with only 1 groove value, you'll get a 5730 bonus.
I think he's saying that the current values of 0x38 can/should be changeable for the better or worse, no idea. I'm not a dance person and I don't have any bemani games or CHDs. Ironically I have two PSX dance mats though...
Larry Stein: It's better to show off the code in cheat.dat format, like this:
beatmania 4th MIX (ver JA-A) - (Copied directly from cheat.dat)
:bm4thmix:00000000:409F4B:00000038:FFFFFFFF:Groove Meter always 100% PL1:The graph might sometimes be wrong, mainly when you miss too many notes within a short Time - there maybe other side effects
:bm4thmix:00000000:409F4D:00000038:FFFFFFFF:Groove Meter always 100% PL2:The graph might sometimes be wrong, mainly when you miss too many notes within a short Time - there maybe other side effects
I don't really understand these games, so whatever that means is also lost on me. If I could understand/'care about' these games there would be a lot more cheats but as it is I'm not going to waste my time playing them to find out what cheats to make....ooh it's Mahjong all over again
This is the reason why groove meter change codes cause the graph to be wrong.
If you change the groove meter into another value, it will not affect the actual value that you have made.
Each time you typed a note that affected, it will change back to the actual value and then roll back to the original value. This will only cause you to win, but the actual value is not changed.
Because of this problem, the cheat will do NO EFFECTS in Expert Mode and Beat/Hip-hop Mania Complete Mix 2's "On Stage Middle" mode. If you messed up your groove to zero, it's GAME OVER even you change it.
EDIT: The cheat I've posted will also work at 6th Mix, Core Remix, and DCT.
